Perlawanan Jones itu didukung oleh mantan pentolan Undertones, Feargal Sharkey (64 tahun). Dia mengatakan lagu itu adalah balada folk pembunuhan klasik.

Pada 2014, Jones juga pernah membela "Delilah" di tengah seruan agar lagu itu dilarang dinyanyikan di pertandingan rugbi. "Aku suka mendengarnya dinyanyikan di pertandingan rugbi. Itu membuat saya sangat bangga menjadi orang Welsh," kata Jones.

Jones menjelaskan bahwa pria yang membunuh seorang wanita dalam lirik lagu "Delilah" itu bukan pernyataan politik. "Itu hanya sesuatu yang terjadi dalam hidup bahwa (seorang) wanita tidak setia padanya," ujar Jones.
